Learning Rummikub Rules
Rummikub is a group of tile rummy games, similar to tile games in South East Europe and Turkey. Ephraim Hertzano, an Israeli games inventor, brought the came to Western Europe and America.
There are three versions of the game: American, Sabra, and International, although modern Rummikub only incorporates Sabra into its rules.
In Rummikub, a set consists of 106 plastic tiles; 104 of them carry numbers across the tiles and there are four colors: black , blue, red, and orange. There are two tiles for every number and color. The two remaining tiles, however, carry smiling faces and these are the “jokers” in your set of tiles.
Rummikub rules are quite simple and the name of the game is elimination; you win when you have laid down all your tiles in sets. It is the goal to meld your tiles and be able to set them all down on the table. Melding may come in groups or in runs; groups must be composed of 3 or more tiles of the same number and must be in different colors, while runs are composed of 3 or more tiles in consecutive order and of the same color. Rummikub rules require that the initial meld you put down have tiles that add up to 30 and this meld cannot be manipulated. The jokers may be used as any other tile for completing a set. Manipulation can also come into play, when players try to rearrange or add to already created tile sets.
